Classic Tattoo is the first tattoo shop in the beautiful town of Fullerton, California. It was opened in 1989 by Charly Moore, now a renowned photographer living in Utah. Not long after Classic’s opening, Charly hired a talented young tattoo artist named Eric Maaske. Eric had a style about his tattoos that was like no other, an electric rockabilly take on original traditional designs. Eric purchased Classic Tattoo from Charly in 2001, after which, Eric remodeled the shop to resemble an original WWII tattoo parlor from the Pike in Long Beach. Tragically, on March 28th, 2004, Eric passed away from an overdose, he was 35. Eric was an old soul who was born in the wrong era, and we were lucky to have him as long as we did. He embodied everything magical of traditional tattooing.

After Eric’s death, his father, Dave Maaske, ran his son’s tattoo shop for ten years before selling it to Tim Hendricks in 2014. Since then, Tim has contributed everything in his power to keep the name and reputation of Classic Tattoo alive and thriving. Including small renovations and additions to the shop that Eric talked about doing but never had the chance to. Classic Tattoo is a place where tattoo artists thrive and flourish and grow into the best they can be. There is an undeniable positive feeling when walking through the front door from the 35+ years of tattoo energy filling the room. As Tim Hendricks says, “If these walls could talk, what incredible stories they would tell.”

Every tattoo that is done here at Classic, and every person who walks through that squeaky old door, is a part of our beautiful history that is Classic Tattoo.
