Frequently Asked Questions
-
Short answer, yes. But, the most common response from a first-timer is, “I thought it was going to be much worse”. It is very common for humans to invent a scenario to be much worse than it actually is. We understand this, and we talk people through every tattoo they receive.
-
The cost varies on many things, but the main factors that determine a cost of a tattoo are: the design, the size, placement on the body, color or black and grey, and how detailed it is. Each tattoo is priced with all these factors in mind and each tattoo can vary in price.

Every design is a very personal choice. As tattoo artists, we are here to take your idea and/or design and make it the best it can possibly be, design-wise and tattoo-wise. We also have oodles of designs to choose from, just ask, we got you covered.
-
That all depends on the type of design you have chosen for your tattoo. Even though all of our artists here at Classic are well trained in every style of tattooing, some specialize in certain styles. That being said, we make sure the style of tattoo you want gets to the best artist fit for you.

Either way is fine! We love both walk-ins or appointments equally. Some tattoos are spur of the moment and therefore we always keep a skilled person on the clock for walk-ins every day of the week. But if you’d like to plan your tattoo out for a specific day and/or specific artist, just let us know and we would be happy to schedule you an appointment.
-
There are a few different ways. One is simply an in-person visit, that way we can consult with you about your tattoo right then and there. Another is to call in and talk to our assistant about it, they will walk you through the process and make it super easy for you. third is to email or fill out our form here and get the process started. All appointments require a small deposit, but not to worry, it goes towards the cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment.

First, wear comfortable clothes, preferably black or dark colored, we’d hate to ruin a nice piece of attire. Second, please don’t get drunk before your tattoo, it only makes everything worse, for you and us. Third, eat a meal before you come in, at least a light meal, it’ll give you more energy and keep your blood-sugar up. Lastly, just relax, you are in excellent hands with us, we take pride in every tattoo we do, big or small.
-
We actually have written instructions that we will give you before you leave, or can you refer to the instructions we have posted online here. We make it easy for you!
-
Healing time varies from person to person and also the size of the tattoo. But, generally it takes anywhere from 3-10 days to feel good and healed. Your tattoo might flake and feel dry for longer.
-
We strongly recommend against swimming pools and lots of direct sunlight after getting tattooed. But, you are over 18 and are free to make your own bad decisions in life.
-
Yes and no. It all depends on where on your body the new tattoo is, how large it is and what type of workout you are doing. For example, if you got a new tattoo on your arm and are going running, then you are in the clear. But, if you just got a big tattoo on your leg and are going to roll Jiu Jitsu, that wouldn’t be the best choice. You need to use your best judgement, or even better, just call us and we’d be glad to give you our expert advice.
-
Absolutely! Just please let us know verbally, even if you wrote it down on your release form, it’s still good to verbalize any medical condition you may have to your artist beforehand. All your information is kept private.
-
Not to worry, just let us know and we will make recommendations on where the best spots on the body are and why. Every tattoo is a different shape and therefore can look better on different areas of the body, composition-wise.
-
Absolutely! We use FDA approved top of the line tattoo pigments, all sterile equipment, and single use and disposable supplies. We are very well trained in safety protocol.
-
Yes and no. We have come a long way with laser removal, but, tattoos are still a very permanent thing, and laser can only remove so much. It can take a great deal of laser removal sessions to totally remove a tattoo and can be expensive. The majority of laser removal we see is for lightening the tattoo for an easier cover-up.

There are many different meanings behind lots of different tattoos. Some have no meaning at all, sometimes it’s just a fun design. Just ask us about any meaning behind any tattoo and we’d be glad to explain it for you.

Please talk to your artist first before using numbing cream. Numbing creams have become more popular in recent years, but numbing creams aren’t usually recommended for tattoos. I’ll explain why. First, most numbing creams have epinephrin in them, it is an agent that helps the lidocaine last much longer, but due to the vasoconstricting effects of epinephrine, which causes blood vessels to narrow, it affects the texture of the skin, which has negative effects on the way your tattoo can turn out. Also, depending on how long your tattoo takes, and how well the cream was applied and/or its effectiveness, it can wear off, creating a very, and unnecessary, painful experience. Another thing to consider is that some people can have allergic reactions to the numbing cream, which would definitely ruin your day.
So, please consult with us beforehand, before you apply anything that can sacrifice the quality of your tattoo.
